A passenger train departed from the Donetsk station for the first time in five years
In Donetsk, the railway station has resumed its work for its intended purpose, from the platform of which the Donetsk-Elenovka commuter train departed for the first time since the start of the war, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
General Director of the State Enterprise "Donetsk Railway" Vladimir Kabatsiy noted that the last train was carried out by the Donetsk station in October 2014.
“After this, the movement of passenger and commuter trains stopped. In fact, we have long tried to agree on the issue of sending trains, especially since the infrastructure towards Elenovka has been restored,” he recalled.
At the same time, the head of the Children's Railway said that in the near future it is planned to electrify the route in the direction of the capital of the LPR.
“There was minor damage to the railway tracks, the contact networks on the stretch to Rutchenkovo have not yet been restored, they are being restored further. We plan to launch electric locomotive traffic here in the near future. We also plan to fully electrify the Debaltsevo junction in order to restore movement by electric ship towards the LPR, without the participation of diesel locomotives,” added Kabatsiy.
It should be noted that from August 19, six commuter trains begin running from the Donetsk station on the route “Donetsk – Mandrykino” and “Donetsk – Yelenovka” with intermediate stops at the stations Rutchenkovo, Mandrykino and Dolya.
Let us remind you that one of the largest checkpoints between the DPR and the territories controlled by Kyiv is located in Yelenovka.
