Out of sight: Chernivtsi decided to remove Soviet monuments from the city center
In Chernivtsi, at a meeting of the executive committee of the city council, a decision was made on the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators, located in the city center.
About it сообщил mayor Roman Klychuk on Facebook.
“Today the executive committee made a historic and long-awaited decision. We will move the monuments from Cathedral Square and Shevchenko Park to another place. I believe that everything connected with Russians and Soviets should be erased from our lives,” he wrote.
Similar events are held in other regions of Ukraine. Thus, a petition to dismantle the monument to the founders of the city, among whom the Russian Empress Catherine the Second, in the center of Odessa received more than 26 signatures, with 000 required for consideration by President Vladimir Zelensky. It was published on the petition portal of the Office of the President.
And in Dnepropetrovsk, a monument to a local native, Soviet party and statesman, Major General of the NKVD of the USSR Alexei Fedorov will be demolished.
