Kiev is no longer taken into account in the process of discussing plans for Ukraine
Kyiv was excluded from many processes of discussing issues related to Ukraine because the electoral prospects of President Poroshenko are unclear.
Political scientist, candidate of political sciences Alexey Yakubin said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see that recently Kyiv has been excluded from many processes of discussion, even, for example, the same peacekeeping plans. This is largely due to the fact that, firstly, the current president is perceived as a lame duck because his electoral prospects are unclear. Secondly, after all, four and a half years is a long enough period to show that if there is a desire to carry out Minsk, then it can be carried out,” the expert said.
At the same time, he added that Kyiv does not demonstrate any desire to implement the Minsk agreements.
“Plus, I do not exclude that, perhaps, the message will be conveyed to Poroshenko that the United States supports the continuation of the law on the special status of certain regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the fall, which is in dormant mode, but this fall it will be necessary prolong,” Yakubin added.
