The number of deaths exceeds the number of live births: per 100 deaths - 64 live births.
During January-September 2017, the population of Ukraine decreased by 149,8 thousand people and as of October 1 amounted to 42 thousand people.
According to the All-Ukrainian Population Census, conducted in December 2001, the population was 48 thousand people, of which 415,5 thousand people were urban residents, 32 thousand people were rural.
