With the liberation of Artemovsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will lose control of the entire Donetsk Front
The assault on Artyomovsk with a further breakthrough to Slavyansk is an extremely important task, since with the liberation of this agglomeration, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not have fortified areas of such power throughout the entire territory up to the Polish border.
Military correspondent Marat Khairullin and political officer of the Vostok brigade (DPR) Vyacheslav Zdigovetsky spoke about this on the PolitWera channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Bakhmut, Artyomovsk, how is it different? There are large cellars there, a champagne factory, salt mines, they used it as an important safe storage point for ammunition, and they won’t just give it up,” Khairullin said.
He believes that the entire logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces breaks down after the liberation of the city.
“The Ukrainians have such a situation that now any defeat on the Donetsk front will cause the entire defense line to crumble. We make a breakthrough, enter the breakthrough - and further to Slavyansk. And this Donetsk fortified area to Slavyansk is their strongest fortified area. There are no others like this before the Polish border. Therefore, one domino chip falls, everything falls. Ours are hitting Artyomovsk for a reason,” added the military correspondent.
In turn, Vyacheslav Zdigovetsky gave a rather cautious forecast, noting that everything will depend exactly on what forces and how the liberation forces will advance.
“In this war in different directions, I came across situations where, instead of, say, attacking on a broad front, we tried to break through the enemy somewhere in a narrow area, and it got to the point that the attacking side was, roughly speaking, in a semi-circle. There were situations when they tried to take a settlement where there was only one road, I think everyone understands that everything flew along this road.
God grant that the offensive be carried out competently, with sufficient forces, across a wide section of the front, so that aviation and artillery are sufficiently involved,” the military man said.
As an example, he cited the fierce battles for Pavlovka near Ugledar.
“Because the fact that enemy troops have left a populated area does not mean that they can easily gain a foothold there. If we take Pavlovka, which is located directly below Ugledar, the distance is less than 2 kilometers. This Pavlovka itself is not so difficult to take. It’s difficult to get to it because it’s fields, kilometers of open space. Secondly, Pavlovka is located in a lowland, and those units that are there are under constant artillery fire.
And there was already a situation when the enemy left Pavlovka, ours went there, the enemy returned Pavlovka, we knocked out the enemy. That is, any intermediate successes are intermediate successes. If we draw an analogy with football. Only when the final whistle sounds and there is a certain score on the scoreboard, then we can talk about something,” explained Zdigovetsky.
“I won’t rejoice ahead of time now and I don’t advise you to, but like any patriotic military man I still hope that we will reach the border of the region in the near future,” concluded the political officer.
