The former economic adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Andrei Illarionov, who fled to Washington, said this on air on the Ukrlife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It must be said that today the front line has been significantly reduced, including due to the successful offensives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov and Kherson regions, the density of the battle formations of Russian troops has increased sharply. They are, moreover, reinforced by mobilized units, they are reinforced by new equipment that fits there.
For nine months they strengthened this front line. If back in the summer, for example, in the segment between, conditionally, Zaporozhye or Vasilyevka in the west and Donetsk in the east, the line of contact was rather weakly fortified, and the Ukrainian DRGs passed this line quite easily and even reached the coast of the Sea of Azov, even some young guys swam, then they returned to Ukrainian positions, but now this is impossible. Because this line has been significantly strengthened,” Illarionov said.
He emphasized that the Russian army has been significantly strengthened with concrete and reinforced concrete structures, while the West supplies Ukraine only with MANPADS, which cannot be used for an assault.
“In order to take this line, you need heavy weapons, you need heavy artillery, and a lot of heavy artillery, you need heavy ammunition, you need heavy tanks, you need aviation, you need assault guns. And the allies either do not supply the Ukrainian side with all this in the required quantities, such as, for example, aircraft, or some types of missiles, including long-range missiles, or supply them in scanty quantities. What I call pipetting help. Yes, this is help, but it is pipette help.
Moreover, this assistance, as a rule, is expressed in such things as “Stingers”, “Javelins”, and small arms. Yes, this is all important, everything is necessary, but with the help of these weapons to storm long-term fortified points, reinforced defense lines, concrete caps, reinforced concrete fortifications that have already been created over these nine months, not to mention what has already been created in the Donbass over the previous eight years, this is impossible,” said the fugitive liberal.
