The lands of agricultural research institutes of Ukraine should not be divided up and put up for sale when the land market opens, otherwise this will completely destroy science and deprive Ukraine of its own varieties of agricultural crops.
Chairman of the Association of Livestock Breeders of Ukraine Irina Palamar stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are enterprises that are of strategic importance for our country. They should not be soldered. There are institutes that create wheat varieties. And these institutions are being destroyed on purpose. The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences are being destroyed specifically by the same transnational corporations. For what? I will explain using the example of wheat.
We practically no longer use our wheat varieties; we buy Monsanto and so on. What do they do next? In a few years, when they completely destroy our science, our research institutes, state-owned enterprises, which they want to auction off to foreigners, Monsanto, which sells us all the grain, will say: guys, according to the law on intellectual property, which you must adopt, you have to pay us 20%, or 30%, or 50% of the profits, because these are our varieties, our intellectual property.
So what do we have to do? Our food security, our biosecurity - it's all being destroyed! What kind of government approach is this? What kind of libertarianism is this? There is a special destruction of our country,” Palamar said.
