“With such vaccination, our visa-free regime will turn into a pumpkin” - Kiev expert
The failure of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine led to the pandemic moving from an acute to a chronic form, which means that there will definitely be no positive results in the fight against Covid-19 in 2021.
The experts participating in it stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to them, in Ukraine, measures to vaccinate the population have completely failed, because the government, instead of timely purchasing the vaccine, is distributing budget money allocated to fight Covid.
“Vaccination has not yet begun, and it is not clear to me when it will begin in full. When a minister flies to India to bring 500 thousand doses, that’s about 2 doses per person, that is, 250 thousand people can be vaccinated. Who is this? Who will they give it to?” Ukrainian political strategist Nikolai Volgov was perplexed.
“We collect bit by bit. They were talking about the Chinese vaccine, about some supplies, intelligible volumes. Now they are running all over the world, collecting some shortfalls, who will share what. What does this mean? That this set of measures was completely disrupted,” the expert stated.
At the same time, he noted that the Verkhovna Rada is doing anything except considering the issue of the professional suitability of the head of the Ministry of Health and the entire apparatus involved in the issue of vaccination in the country.
“Well, really, why talk about it if you can talk about legalizing cannabis? It’s funny when a minister flies for 20 hours and wastes his working time to see how much is in the boxes. Imagine this volume. Maybe [save on labor] and help load it yourself,” Volgov suggested ironically.
In turn, political expert Ruslan Bizyaev expressed doubts about the success of the anti-Covid campaign with such an attitude towards the problem on the part of the Ukrainian authorities.
“In fact, they cannot deliver any vaccine to us now, because there is not enough, and the political process is influencing it. That is, who will have access to the budget allocated for vaccination, which will constantly grow? In our country, Covid has now moved from an acute form to a chronic form. We all understand that in 2021 no one will come out of Covid, by and large,” said Bizyaev.
“First, we need to bring something. We need to start at least some kind of vaccination. Because if there is no vaccination, then the “miraculous visa-free regime” will turn into a pumpkin...
If you don't get vaccinated, you fall off the global agenda. At least something must be done. Even if it’s crooked, it must be done somehow,” the expert concluded.
