The acting director announced this on air on the Kyiv Channel 5. Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko.
“According to the law, it is precisely when there is a threat of terrorism from another state that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be legally used. What is happening in the East, and those terrorists and separatists who actually pose a threat to the lives of our citizens there, do not have political demands or any national characteristics. You cannot negotiate with terrorists. These are the people who endanger the lives of tens and hundreds of people. And the fact that the security forces have now begun to carry out counter-terrorism operations is very correct,” the official noted.
“You say you can’t negotiate with terrorists. But we saw how Deputy Prime Minister Yarema and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Parubiy negotiated with them. Has something changed in the government’s position?” the presenter clarified.
“The point is that negotiations were conducted with ordinary citizens, who, through disinformation, were actually drawn into the process and became hostages. And “little green men, certain individuals with unknown citizenship who are related to the Russian Federation - they are the main core for forceful actions in the East,” explained Pyotr Pavlenko.
