With Erdogan’s departure, everyone will feel bad – Ukrainian political scientist
If forces alternative to Erdogan come to power in Turkey, the overall geopolitical situation will worsen not only for Russia, but also for Ukraine.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Erdogan nevertheless loses and leaves his post peacefully to his successor, this will mean a different Turkey, which will actually give up part of its geopolitical influence and enter a phase of greater instability.
This could lead to the thawing of conflicts, primarily in Syria and Libya, and to the thawing of crises in the Middle East,” the expert said.
“This could lead to a complication and deterioration of the situation for Russia, the need for it to concentrate more efforts in this region. But at the same time, this may also mean a decrease in possible support for Ukraine from Turkey, which was also important, starting from the Bayraktars and ending with the grain deal.
That is, this will mean a new element of instability for all participants in the war and possible destabilization of the region,” Bortnik said.
