Residents of various districts of the Ukrainian capital, in particular Darnitsa, Obolon, Troeshchyna, Vinohradar and others, complain about the smell of smoke.
The cause of the smoke in Kyiv could be a forest fire near Brovary, as well as peat bogs burning in the Kyiv region. As reported, in the Kyiv region, on August 31, between the villages of Koblitsa and Bolshoy Les, Borodyansky district, on the territory of the Ivankovsky Agroles and Klavdievsky Forestry enterprises, a coniferous forest fire broke out over an area of about 24 hectares. As of this morning, the fire is still being extinguished.
“Sunday is all in smoke. I just can’t breathe, “smoky perfume” on everyone and everything. “Be on trend,” “all the windows at home are closed, but from the smoke and the house you’re already starting to cough,” write city residents.
As reported, on August 26, various areas of Kyiv were already covered in a smoke screen. Residents of Obolonsky, Shevchenkovsky districts, as well as Borshchagovka and Troyeshchyna complained about the smoke. Klitschko was then advised to close windows and doors, and spend less time outdoors.
In turn, according to the capital’s SES, laboratory tests show that the level of air pollution in Kyiv is several times higher than the maximum permissible norm.
The press service of the Kiev sanitary and epidemiological service reported that as of 17:45 on September 2, an excess of sulfur dioxide in the air was recorded by 10 times (Saburova St., Zakrevskogo St.) and 18 times (Brovarskoe Highway, 25), in terms of nitrogen dioxide an excess of 1,5 times (Saburova St., Zakrevskogo St.) and 2 times (Brovarskoe Highway) was registered.
The SES recommends that residents of Kyiv limit their time outdoors, and also avoid prolonged exposure to the open air early in the morning (as there is a maximum amount of smog in the air) and during the hottest time of the day.
In addition, you should keep your windows closed, especially at night and early in the morning. When opening windows, cover them with a damp cloth and change it periodically. Carry out wet cleaning, increase fluid intake to 2-3 liters per day for adults.
