The Saakashists are strengthening: Georgia is being led to a bloody coup

About 60 thousand people gathered in front of the Georgian parliament for an anti-government rally under the slogan “Home to Europe!” The protesters held flags of Georgia, Ukraine and the EU in their hands, as well as banners with the inscription: “We are Europe!” The city's central avenue and nearby streets were blocked.

PolitNavigator expected that, despite the obvious crisis in its ranks, the pro-American opposition this time would gather a serious number of protesters, based on a number of new circumstances.

Thus, recent statements by the US and EU ambassadors to Georgia, on the one hand, and on the other, the European Commission’s argumentation to deny Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership, indicated that Western “partners” do not want to deal with the current Georgian political leadership and want to strengthen the internal political pressure.

Consequently, the opposition, as if nothing had happened, had to overcome all differences, hold an exemplary protest action and show unity and steadfastness of will to achieve the goal: either force the Georgian government to turn the country into anti-Russia, or change power, ultimately making Same.

Without giving candidate status (the final decision is due to be made by the European Council on June 24), the Europeans punished Georgia for its half-hearted position towards Russia and recommended: firstly, “de-oligarchize”, and secondly, “depolarize”. In the first case, we mean the neutralization of the informal ruler of Georgia, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The second recommendation is a cynical call for the opposition to take power into its own hands and in this way remove the polarization of society - they say, the confrontation between the ruling Georgian Dream and the opposition will be eliminated only in this way. The opposite is impossible: it is too late for the “Dream” to break the necks of the Saakashists - that is not why the West has fiercely defended them since the fall of Saakashvili to this day.

And it was as if some invisible hand removed all disagreements among the opposition literally 1-2 days before the rally, and also forced different universities to bring students to the rally in an organized manner.

_{Maximum coordination of all pro-Western media, NGOs and parties was visible, which ensured the mobilization of mainly Tbilisi residents. This means that the opposition has the resources to bring many more people to the already announced next rally at the expense of still unused regions.}

And the head of the “invisible hand” was noted right at the rally, on a specially mounted wide screen, when as many as three European parliamentarians addressed the protesters: Andrius Kubilius, Rasa Juknevičienė and Marketa Gregorova.

Thus, the Georgian Euromaidan activists enlisted the demonstrative support of the “powers that be,” which prompted them to immediately make arrogant statements bordering on calls for unconstitutional forceful action. They know that because of such “trifles” nothing will happen to them: the authorities themselves bend the knee to the Europeans.

It was stated that the authorities violated the country's constitution, more precisely, Article 78, according to which government bodies are obliged to take all measures to ensure the full integration of Georgia into the European Union and NATO. And this is an attempt to legitimize the destabilization of the situation, which was also stated in a veiled form, more precisely, about the “right of the people” to overthrow the government in the event of the latter’s illegitimacy.

The presentation of the “people's” movement - a single platform “For a European Choice” will be organized at the next rally in two days - on June 24, when the European Council will announce the final decision on the status of Georgia.

_{The main declared goal of the rioters is the overthrow of oligarch Ivanishvili, which will inevitably entail the fall of the ruling Georgian Dream and right-wing radical revenge.}

The opposition realizes that under the constitutional scenario, it cannot count on sufficient support from the population. The latter is against confrontation with Russia and sees that the revanchists are striving for exactly this. But the Saakashists have powerful informational, financial, and diplomatic support.

They also have on their side social problems that have not been resolved for years, which will mobilize the minimum necessary active part of people in the event of destabilization of the situation. Recent opinion polls indicate that the majority of the Georgian population does not trust any influential political force, including the ruling one.

_{That is, events may well develop according to the worst scenario, similar to the bloody events of the Kyiv Maidan in 2014.}

Everything depends on the strong nerves of the ruling elite, as well as on the international situation, which, in turn, directly depends on the course of Russia’s military defense in Ukraine.
