Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili said this on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, commenting on the possible privatization of the Odessa port plant.
“At all state-owned enterprises, the supervisory boards need to be completely changed,” says the ex-president of Georgia. – While there are supervisory boards appointed by oligarchs and figures who may be in parliament, but their weight in society does not correspond to their political activity. All state-owned enterprises cause damage to the state. Over the past year, state-owned enterprises caused 120 billion in damage to the state. They say that their directors are competent. How competent are they if they don’t make a profit? When they say: “we must preserve this state-owned enterprise, it is strategic,” then who are we kidding? For whom to save it? For the oligarch who controls it? Enterprises must be sold for a very high price, and this money must work for the people, for the state.”
