Saakashvili actually copied Ostap Bender’s program verbatim

He told how the city of Chernivtsi could flourish if a new airport was built, how the Poltava region and Zaporozhye, which relied on the revival of folk traditions, could revive, how the south of Ukraine would explode economically if it started growing wine grapes. And there’s no talk of Odessa, which should become a world “hub” on the Black Sea,” the publication writes.
“In some places, these forecasts, word for word, were reminiscent of Ostap Bender’s “New Vasyukov impromptu”: “A high-speed train will go to Odessa, which will take you from Kiev to the Black Sea in just two and a half hours. A modern highway will connect Kyiv and Bucharest through Odessa...” People on social networks read and cried bitterly: “What an honest, energetic person... You are our Hercules...” They understood that under the existing government, all this is a pipe dream. And at any moment the guardian of Ukrainian interests is being transported,” MK sneers.
