Saakashvili: Georgia will lose much more without me in the conflict with Russia
The Russian embargo is not a tragedy when there is no corruption in the country, and the economy is set in a modern way.
The fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Georgian Transparency International said that Georgia would lose one hundred million dollars, and Russian tourism organizations said it would lose three hundred million. That is, the numbers are scattering,” the presenter noted.
“I think Georgia will lose not a hundred, but somewhere around 400-500 million, this is a lot of money, but it can be compensated - by the way, when we had a complete Russian embargo since 2006, the Georgian economy began to grow by 1,12 percent. Not only did this not kill us - when we were focused on a modern economy and there was no corruption - Georgia just moved forward quickly.
So, the Russian embargo is not exactly a tragedy if you have a patriotic government that knows how to act,” boasts Saakashvili, under whom all the Georgian business competitors of Miho’s team were cornered or in prison.
