Saakashvili uses his post in Kyiv to attack the Georgian authorities
Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who fled because of crimes committed in his homeland and received a post in Ukraine, will continue to fight with official Tbilisi.
The Russian business newspaper Kommersant writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication notes that Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia warned the Ukrainian authorities that Tbilisi “will closely monitor” whether Kyiv can prevent Mikheil Saakashvili from interfering in the political life of Georgia.
In turn, the director of regional programs of the Georgian Center for Strategic Analysis, Gela Vasadze, is confident that for Saakashvili his appointment in Ukraine can be very useful in the context of Georgia and the upcoming election campaign here.
“He is updating all his contacts in the West. There will be meetings with the most important international financiers and other important people. His status makes it possible to meet them. Saakashvili will extract money for Ukraine, but he will be able to use these contacts to hit the Georgian authorities. And this cannot but help his party. I think when he agreed, he proceeded from this first of all,” says Vasadze.
Let us remind you that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on the appointment Saakashvili Chairman of the Executive Committee for Reforms.
As PolitNavigator reported, after Saakashvili’s appointment Georgia recalled its ambassador from Kyiv.
