Saakashvili is indignant: Georgia has increased its assistance to Russia
Last fall, it became obvious that Georgian power supposedly falls entirely under the Kremlin.
The ex-governor of Odessa and former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who is in a Georgian prison, writes about this in his telegram channel.
“Many people ask how it happened that at such a decisive moment in history I am not in Kyiv, but in a Georgian prison. Of course, if I could imagine that there would soon be a war of this magnitude, I would not have left anywhere. But last fall, I was finally convinced that the Georgian government was already completely under the Kremlin and, risking my life and freedom, I went to help the Georgian opposition, which was actually supported by the majority of the population even then, despite the rigged elections.
Since then, the struggle has not stopped and it is now expressed in the fact that almost 90% of Georgians support Ukraine and the pro-Putin government has found itself in complete isolation. But it’s very hard for me that with all my experience and international connections, especially in the world media, I cannot be close to Zelensky and his team,” writes Saakashvili.
He claims that his presence in Georgia “accelerates the process of replacing the pro-Russian government with a pro-Ukrainian one.”
“We will definitely achieve this in the near future. And then I will be able to return to my home in Kyiv and get back into service. I believe and pray every day for the very close final victory of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukraine and civilization,” the prisoner adds.
He also complains that Georgia continues to actively trade with Russia.
“The Georgian government purchased almost twice as much energy from Russia as before the war. This is after, in my time, we reduced our energy dependence on Russia to zero. Moreover, imports of other goods from Russia increased sharply after its attack on Ukraine. Batumi has become a center for the transportation of Russian products.
The irony of the situation is that Russia began to purchase much less Georgian products. That is, to our great shame, the Georgian government has increased its assistance to the racists in financing the murders of our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. It pains me very much to write this, but I will do everything together with my comrades to put an end to this shame,” says Saakashvili.
