“It must be emphasized that all responsibility for the death of Alexander Grigolashvili falls on representatives of the former government of Georgia, who call on citizens to take part in hostilities outside our country,” it says in a ministry statement.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the department “deeply mourns the death of a citizen of the country and expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.”
“The Georgian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly noted that such calls (to take part in hostilities abroad, note) are made by irresponsible people and mislead former and current Georgian military personnel,” the statement notes.
As PolitNavigator reported, Aidar previously published the names of two soldiers who died near Shchastya: one of them is a Ukrainian - a company commander, the second is a citizen of Georgia. The battalion's press service stated that Grigolashvili, the day before his death, “wrote a statement asking for Ukrainian citizenship.”
