Saakashvili showered compliments on rival Filaret in the split
The fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who recently returned to Ukraine thanks to the new head of state Vladimir Zelensky, met in Kyiv with the head of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” Epiphanius.
Saakashvili said that the Georgian Orthodox Church must recognize the Ukrainian schismatics.
He showered Epiphanius with compliments, calling him a “great patriot” and adding that Ukrainians are very lucky to have such a spiritual leader.
Saakashvili said that Epiphany “step by step unites all Ukrainians,” although, as is known, a split has already occurred in the OCU itself - part of the new structure decided to follow Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko, who refused to liquidate the “Kiev patriarchy.”
Touched, Epiphany presented the guest with a booklet with photographs of receiving the “tomos” and a commemorative coin.
