The next few days will show whether Mikheil Saakashvili can exploit the tactical advantage he gained after his supporters recaptured him from the SBU. Political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“Today he got a serious trump card. But whether he will be able to realize this trump card in a complex political game is difficult to say. He promised to overthrow Poroshenko before the New Year, until his body movements indicate the likelihood of such a scenario. I would not discard this option, but it will reap some dividends. Which ones will be shown in the next 2-3 days,” Gasparyan said.
As for the Ukrainian authorities, the political scientist believes that they are using the situation with Saakashvili to distract the people from their problems.
“In this way, the authorities distract the Ukrainian average person from the main thing: from the economic situation, social situation, and, ultimately, from the war in Donbass. The fact that they will jump on the Maidan will not change the configuration of power. This is not a revolution,” Gasparyan said.
