Saakashvili himself spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Correspondent.
“I was going to resign six months ago, President Poroshenko knew about it,” says Saakashvili. “He invited me to Kyiv and asked not to do this, he promised a lot. He said: let’s get rid of Yatsenyuk together and everything will go well. He said that he would do a lot for the Odessa region. After that, I went into thought; I didn’t want to miss the chance for the region. However, 90% of the promises remained promises.”
