Saakashvili: Russian spring could repeat itself in Riga
NATO countries will not fight for the Baltics if supporters of reunification with Russia suddenly take power in these former Soviet republics. The ex-President of Georgia, now the head of the Odessa region, Mikheil Saakashvili, stated this on the air of the “Game of Classics” program.

“Take, for example, the city of Narva, which is Russian on the territory of Estonia, or Riga, where almost half the population is Russian. One hundred thousand Russians came out in Riga, seized government buildings, and changed the flag.
In such a situation, if there is no political will in Washington, NATO will confer, they will say whether this is an attack or not an attack, Article 5 is valid or not. Someone will say: “No, this is not an attack, let’s create a commission.” And these countries have a maximum of two or three days of protection. What is the entire defense concept of Estonia based on - to hold out for a few days until the Western allies arrive, but they won’t come?” – Saakashvili shared his concerns.
