Saakashvili in Kyiv: For many years I fought with Russia
Kyiv, February 10 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that throughout his reign Russia was at war with Georgia, and the conflict in Ossetia in 2008 was just one of the episodes of this war.
The ex-head of state announced this at a conference in Kyiv.

“We had a military front almost all the years of my reign. It is a big mistake to think that we only had a war in 2008. It’s just that in 2008 the whole world saw that we were attacked by 110 thousand Russian soldiers, and that we were bombed by clouds of planes. 60% of the country's territory was occupied. 20% is still occupied. But it was just an episode.
Almost all the years of my reign, Russia bombed us. Either she bombed us in the Pankisi Gorge, then in the Kodori Gorge, then near Gori. We had a large number of terrorist attacks organized by Russian intelligence services. We had a complete trade embargo. And our people were thrown out of Russia in large numbers. Georgian citizens were deported just to make it seem too little. Every year and every month we had problems,” Saakashvili said.
