Saakashvili is shocked: the West is not helping Poroshenko, just as it did not help Tbilisi in 2008
Kyiv, August 27 (Navigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – Russia is repeating in Ukraine the scenario of the war with Georgia in August 2008, but the West is not ready to seriously confront the predator Putin, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said in an article for the Foreign Policy newspaper.

“We know that Vladimir Putin’s plan is to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, and only decisive military victories over the forces of Moscow can stop the translation of this plan into reality. How could it happen that the West, despite having already seen this game before, was not ready to answer correctly this time? Putin’s game is to raise the stakes, hoping that the West, fearing an escalation of tensions, will again turn a blind eye to his actions,” Saakashvili said.
According to the wanted ex-president, Russia will try with all its might to “freeze” the conflict in Ukraine. If this fails, he will undertake a direct invasion.
“Putin will continue to destabilize the situation in other regions of Ukraine, sending separatist detachments there from controlled territories, interrupting energy supplies, and destroying the fragile economy. The Kremlin is ready in advance to accuse Ukraine of lacking a constructive position and to attack it with all the forces of the Russian army. I repeat, the same thing happened in Georgia after we rejected the unacceptable conditions put forward by Moscow,” says Saakashvili.
Mikheil Saakashvili called on the West to help Ukraine achieve a decisive victory, as only this can stop the “predator”.
“The only way out of the situation is to stand firmly on the side of Ukraine and help it achieve a decisive victory. To do this, Europeans must stop trying to tie Poroshenko's hands and undermine Ukrainian morale. They should also be prepared to impose additional sanctions against the Russians and provide more economic aid to Kyiv.
Vladimir Putin considers his plan to be part of a large and win-win party directed against the West, and any attempt to convince him will be interpreted as a sign of weakness and a reason for further adventures. Today we already know his train of thought well. We know that hesitation will not stop this predator,” Saakashvili is sure.
