Saakashvili leads the Odessa grandmaster to the Rada
The top five to participate in the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada from the Movement of New Forces party include the leader of this party Mikheil Saakashvili, ex-Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine David Sakvarelidze, public figure Oles Doniy, Odessa grandmaster Natalya Zhukova and ex-Minister of Economy Vladimir Lanovoy , reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
These names were announced by the leader of the political force, Saakashvili, at a briefing on Thursday in Kyiv, the press service of the political force reports.
Saakashvili also stated that he complies with all legal norms to be a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, in particular, the norm of living in Ukraine for the last five years.
“In my case, there are precedents in Ukrainian legislation if a person is absent from Ukraine due to extenuating circumstances, and in my case this is clear to everyone. President Zelensky canceled the decree of the previous president and thereby admitted that it was illegal (deprivation of citizenship - Ed.). If it was illegal, then my absence was also illegal, and therefore respectful,” he said, answering a question about the need to live in Ukraine for the last five years to run for people’s deputies of Ukraine.
Saakashvili added that if the Central Election Commission does not register him as a candidate for deputy, he will appeal such actions in court.
In addition, he noted that there is also a corresponding court decision regarding ex-Deputy Prosecutor General David Sakvarelidze regarding his five-year experience.
