Saakashvili returned to Ukraine for a long time - not only Poroshenko will have problems
Vladimir Zelensky’s team intends to use Mikheil Saakashvili during the parliamentary campaign, but Saakashvili’s masses will try to stay in Ukraine for a long time and may start a fight against Zelensky himself and the oligarchs who support him.
Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would not say that Saakashvili’s return is only due to the fact that, for example, Saakashvili will be ready to start an active struggle exclusively with Poroshenko. I think that Saakashvili’s return was largely possible due to the fact that Kolomoisky is interested in “driving wedges” into the various influence groups that exist around Vladimir Zelensky.
It is no secret that Saakashvili had a difficult relationship with Arsen Avakov. Saakashvili is a good speaker; he largely understands how part of Ukrainian politics works. And it seems to me that his return may (cause problems) for Zelensky. Zelensky was convinced that this was beneficial for him.
But his return in the future could partly turn against Zelensky himself if Saakashvili begins an active struggle. Those who brought him here, the same Kolomoisky, they think that he will continue to work exclusively only against Poroshenko in these elections. It seems to me that it may well be that Saakashvili will unwind in the future. At one time he had a difficult relationship with Kolomoisky.
I think that this is a “long-term” player and what he says that he is going to leave Ukraine in a few months may not be true,” he said.
