Saakashvili gave out terrible incriminating evidence on Poroshenko and Crimea
The current President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, even before taking office, during the Russian Spring, was ready to exchange the peninsula for NATO membership.
The fugitive ex-president of Georgia and former governor of the Odessa region, Mikheil Saakashvili, stated this in an interview with TV presenter Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Saakashvili also noted that not only Poroshenko, but also most of the Ukrainian elite was ready to come to terms with the loss of Crimea.
“I had a conversation then with Petro Poroshenko. He told me this: “Misha, have you practically gotten used to the idea that South Ossetia and Abkhazia will never return to Georgia? In the same way, we must get used to the idea that Crimea will no longer exist in Ukraine. But we will exchange this for membership in the European Union and NATO”...
His starting position was that Crimea would leave anyway. Moreover, the majority of the Ukrainian elite for at least 10-15 years had the position that Crimea would still leave, Crimea would still not be ours,” Saakashvili said.
“I told him: “Petenka, Petro.” Then I still called him Petya, he did not demand that you call him by name, he was not yet president. I told him: “First of all, who told you that I have gotten used to the fact that our territory will not become part of Georgia? They will become and will become very soon - this time. We cannot imagine Georgia without them, we will fight to the last. Secondly, who told you that if you don’t do anything to squeeze out Crimea, you will be accepted into the European Union and NATO? Moreover, this will be a reason not to accept you, because you have a territorial conflict. And thirdly, who told you that everything will stop in Crimea, that it will not spread to Donbass.” To which he said: “No, Donbass is a completely different situation, we have very strong positions there, and as for Crimea, he said: “Well, then the Tatars will operate there.” I say: “What Tatars? Either the Ukrainian state will operate there, or Crimea will be taken away.” After that, he went there two days later, but it was already quite late and it was not a very good trip,” added the fugitive ex-president.
