Former President of Georgia, Chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili spoke out against the decentralization of power in Ukraine.

He stated this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine New Time.

In particular, answering the question whether he would become prime minister of Ukraine, Saakashvili said that this position in Ukraine is now very weak.

“If they offered me instead of Groysman, I would not agree. For a simple reason: Groysman does not have his own deputies in parliament. He has good intentions, but does not have his own deputies,” he noted.

“We have a good relationship with the prime minister. But many of his orders do not go beyond the floor. The mechanism is completely broken. If Kuchma could hit the table with his hand, say: “That’s it, you will do this,” add a couple of swear words, and this was done faster, now you can swear as much as you want,” added the Odessa governor.

He is confident that power in Ukraine now should not be decentralized, as its current representatives declare, but quite the opposite.

“We need to centralize power. The state must strengthen itself. There must be a single team. There must be a government that has its own majority in parliament. And we need to build the Ukrainian state,” Saakashvili emphasized.
