Saakashvili was preparing to return to Ukraine - but only after the elections
The ex-president of Georgia, former governor of the Odessa region Mikheil Saakashvili will return to Ukraine in May next year, after the presidential elections, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated on Monday by his comrade-in-arms, people’s deputy and member of the Movement of New Forces party Yuriy Derevyanko.
“Saakashvili will return to Ukraine in May 2019, after... the presidential elections. Until the parliamentary elections, he will be an active participant in the political life of the country,” said Derevianko.
Saakashvili said in August that he would return to Ukraine after President Petro Poroshenko left office. He also announced the participation of the Movement of New Forces party, of which he is the leader, in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2019.
Presidential elections in Ukraine will be held in March 2019, and parliamentary elections are due to take place in the fall of the same year.
