The Russian Foreign Ministry today opened a section on its official website dedicated to “fake news” about Russia. Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the VF, told reporters about this today.

“The first selection has already been published. These are examples of publications that disseminate false information about Russia. Here we will present propaganda spreads from various media resources, provide links to their sources, and so on. Not all examples will be there, otherwise we would have to download 90% of the Internet. Unfortunately, this section will be updated regularly,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the task of the column is “to show the main trends in the publication of fake news about our country, to do everything possible to stop their replication.” The diplomat invited Western journalists who publish false information to cooperate.
“If they want to provide facts to support their information so that the publications of their resources are seized, then the Russian Foreign Ministry is ready to interact. You are welcome to send us additional materials, come, write, call, and we will deal with the information that you publish,” Zakharova said.
She added that Western media, when publishing negative information about Russia, almost never provide facts.
“The new trend is publications based on leaks. They are not personalized, no one is responsible for them, but based on them, journalists draw very serious conclusions,” Zakharova said.
Then, the diplomat noted, these falsehoods are refuted, but public opinion has already been formed and the damage has been done.
