“We ourselves are not locals...” – Latvian publication extorts money from Russians
The Latvian Russian-language publication Meduza began asking for money from subscribers
Recently he was recognized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
They are trying to kill Medusa. The Russian Ministry of Justice declared us a “foreign agent.” We lost advertisers because of this. This means we are running out of money. Right now.
We have dramatically reduced costs. We no longer have an office - neither in Riga nor in Moscow. We have practically abandoned cooperation with freelance authors. We cut salaries: cuts ranged from 30 to 50%. Even in this situation, Meduza will not last long,” writes Meduza, prefacing this pitiful message with a mandatory notification that the media is a foreign agent.
The following is a link where you can make a payment. Meduza asks that this information be distributed “among friends and acquaintances.” The liberal media have already shown solidarity and reposted this information.
Assigning foreign agent status to a media outlet does not entail restrictions in its work, but advertisers prefer not to cooperate with such publications. Meduza editor-in-chief Ivan Kolpakov admitted that this is the main problem.
Thank you!
