“It’s their own fault”: Elections in the DPR can be used by Kiev as a reason for new punishment
Kyiv, October 18 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) - The coming winter and frosts will show which of the regimes - Kiev or Donetsk and Luhansk - turned out to be more viable.
Donetsk journalist Ramil Zamdykhanov writes about this on the pages of the weekly “Correspondent” in the “Opinion” column, noting that both sides expect further confrontation due to the precariousness and unnaturalness of the new borders.

At the same time, the publication notes that military intrigue in Donbass is gradually giving way to political intrigue. The author connects this with the upcoming elections in the republics and the ambiguous perception among some field commanders and fighters of new political realities, but is confident that, despite objections and even possible local riots, elections will take place, and the region will receive authorities that will insist on their competence .
“This is as true as the fact that Kyiv will never recognize their legitimacy, and the past elections in Donbass will become an additional argument, along with the referendum on May 11, justifying a possible military operation in the region,” predicts Ramil Zamdykhanov. “The population of Donbass, which, according to the prevailing opinion in Ukraine, is “themselves to blame” for what is happening, will be found guilty again, which will give them the right to launch another propaganda campaign against them, now as a repeat offender region.”
