US-Russia summit: There are no winners, but Ukraine lost
The main loser of the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden was the two-faced Ukrainian “elite,” which, although grumbling about the fact that Washington and Moscow were discussing affairs in Kyiv without his participation, secretly hoped for humiliating results of the negotiations for the Kremlin.
Russian State Duma deputy Konstintin Zatulin stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Ukraine there was a feeling, and not in vain, that during the negotiations between Putin and Biden they would not ask Ukraine about everything that was happening in the world. But it’s also a shame that Biden, and he’s talking about the Minsk agreements сказалthat we will not come anywhere except the Minsk agreements - this is completely offensive.
In Ukraine, suicides may increase among a certain number of citizens who are very Svidomo. But we have to admit only one thing - Ukraine, having betrayed its own past at one time, followed this path, decided that the most important thing is to pretend in the East, until 2014, that we are dear friends and closest, but in fact we are crawling all the time towards NATO,” said Zatulin.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Communist Party Spiridon Kilinkarov clarified that the outcome of the summit will be that the United States and Russia will now be able to discuss European affairs directly - without the participation of Kyiv and the EU, which have shown their inability to resolve the conflict.
“A few words about the US-Russia summit - this is a unique case when there are no winners, but there are losers. It seems to me that in this situation, first of all, Ukraine lost. Because Ukrainian issues were discussed without Ukraine. And Europe lost, because I think that in the near future contact will be established between Nuland and Kozak, who will discuss, again, the issue of Ukraine without Ukraine,” the politician said.
At the same time, he urged “not to have any illusions about the Americans who have declared their commitment to the Minsk agreements” - despite the fact that the United States signed them as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Washington previously regularly encouraged sabotage of the agreements by Kyiv.
