Russian singer Yulia Samoilova, who will represent the Russian Federation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, called the statement of the Ukrainian authorities not to allow her to participate in the competition ridiculous because she had previously performed in Crimea.

“This is all somehow funny, and I don’t understand why there’s such a commotion. It was an absolutely ordinary concert... I don’t know, it’s all somehow strange to me,” the singer noted.
Also, commenting on speculation that participation in Eurovision is a PR stunt, Samoilova emphasized that there have always been prejudices about her.
“How many people, so many opinions,” the singer noted.
