The most scandalous local elections in the regions of Ukraine turned out to be Odessa, where the current mayor Gennady Trukhanov managed to hold his position in the fight against the MP from the Opportunity for Life Protection Nikolai Skorik.

“The dirtiest elections are taking place in Odessa. As a result of a fierce struggle between Trukhanov’s team and the Opposition Bloc in Odessa, Trukhanov is still holding his position. I don’t know whether the closure of criminal cases as a result of the decision of the Constitutional Court worked for Trukhanov. Probably, conversations about this are still unfounded - among those who made a presentation to the KSU were representatives of the OPZH.

In general, the situation with the elections in Odessa gives reason to think that, given the intensity of passions, political confrontation may at some stage flare up again in the form of votes of no confidence or something similar. OPZH in Odessa and the Odessa region remains a very influential force.

I do not rule out that even if it is formally confirmed that Trukhanov wins based on the results of the vote count, the confrontation in Odessa will not end. This whole scandalous story will continue.

By the way, the same applies to the western regions - the elections will continue since these local elections are considered by many leading parties as a prologue to possible parliamentary elections,” the political scientist believes.

Exit polls conducted by different sociological companies showed diametrically opposite results of the second round of elections for the mayor of Odessa. According to the KIIS exit poll, Gennady Trukhanov has 55,1% of the votes, and Nikolai Skorik has 42,8%. According to the exit poll, which was commissioned by Channel 7, Skorik received 50,4% of the votes, Trukhanov – 46,2%.
