Virastyuk made a corresponding statement in an interview with the publication “Apostrophe”.
So, answering the question of what he thinks about Crimea and Usik’s phrase “Crimea is Crimea,” Virastyuk supported the Ukrainian boxer.
“For me this is lost territory. Today I don’t consider it Ukrainian. And I was at that press conference with Usik. Firstly, the question itself “what is Crimea for you?”, what should he answer? He was born there, his family lives there now, and Crimea for him is Crimea. What else can I say? To say that Crimea is Ukraine if it is not so? To say that Crimea is an occupied territory? Yes it's true. But he can’t say that either, his family lives there. Crimea is Crimea, how else? This doesn’t depend on Usik. This is such a setup question. He should have been able to answer it a long time ago; he is asked this question almost every time. Somehow to be clever, to make a joke,” noted the Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine.
