Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov drew attention to this trend in his blog, backing up his arguments with recently published UN statistics, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, in addition to Ukraine, the list of the most endangered countries includes Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland and Hungary, which have already become EU members. According to UN analysts, these countries will lose between 2050 and 15 percent of their populations by 23.
“What is it? Why is it that among the countries where the UN predicts the world’s largest population decline are only countries that have chosen European integration in recent decades? Are we all surprised?” Kornilov remarked sarcastically.
