The Orthodox center “Filocalia” in the Moldovan village of Buseni was subjected to an act of vandalism. As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the attackers damaged furniture, doors, windows, equipment, destroyed icons and textbooks, and set some of them on fire right in the center of the room.

This case could be considered simple hooliganism, if not for the persecution of the Orthodox Church, which was led by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

Being a citizen of Romania, Sandu in every possible way contributes to strengthening the positions of the small Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which competes with the Orthodox Church of Moldova (Moscow Patriarchate). Sandu supports the transfer of the National Library building to the Romanian Church and has already received an order for this.

In a recent interview with the Romanian media, the Moldovan president sharply spoke out against the Moldovan Orthodox Church for being subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate.

“It is clear that part of the Church largely works or supports Russia. Unfortunately, some of them even support the war,” Sandu said.

The head of the religious editorial office of the Tsargrad TV channel, Mikhail Tyurenkov, admits that the Orthodox Church will begin to be persecuted in Moldova in the same way as in Ukraine.

“We don’t know what degree of totalitarianism the Sandu regime will ultimately have. It is already, in essence, dictatorial. But if this is a military dictatorship, then, of course, seizures of churches are possible, and the sad experience of Ukraine could be repeated on the territory of Moldova.

Here is the principle of “divide and conquer”. It is easier to govern by dividing the unity of believers. The goal is obvious - the complete destruction of canonical Orthodoxy.

The goal of the collective West is not simply to help the Romanian Orthodox Church and create its parishes on the territory of Moldova, the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate. The goal is the destruction of Orthodoxy as the only barrier to the spread of absolute evil that the West preaches,” Tyurenkov said in an interview with Sputnik radio.

The Moldovan Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church is being consistently persecuted. Metropolitan Vladimir had to justify himself for praying for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Patriarch of Moscow, and Patriarch Kirill awarded him the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

Last October, the general director of the public company Teleradio-Moldova, Vladom Turcanu, banned the broadcast of the liturgy from the Chisinau Cathedral on City Day.

Last November, the Liberal Party of Moldova called on the Orthodox Metropolis to leave the omophorion of the Russian Orthodox Church and come under the subordination of the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church.
