Sandu deceived Kozak: Transnistria is forced to abandon its symbols
In Ukraine, drivers with Transnistrian licenses and vehicle registration numbers have begun to be fined.
A resident of the PMR, Elena Geshko-Maksimyuk, spoke about the incident in the Pridnestrovie-Online FB group, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On Sunday, at a traffic police station near Odessa, their car was stopped by a traffic police officer. Their car had Transnistrian license plates, and the driver had a Transnistrian license.
As a result, the policeman issued a fine of 3400 hryvnia for driving without a license, since Transnistrian licenses are not recognized by international convention.
The fine must be paid within 15 days, otherwise the case will be transferred to execution, and the amount of the penalty may double.
“The first signs of the upcoming ban on entry into the territory of Ukraine with Pridnestrovian license plates were noted on social networks. Residents of Transnistria will be able to enter the Ukrainian side either in a car with established license plates of a UN member country, or in a car with neutral license plates and an MD sticker,” the Chisinau Center for Analysis, Research and Forecasting Balkan-Centre comments on the incident.
It was previously announced that entry for cars with Transnistrian license plates into the territory of Ukraine will be prohibited from September 1.
However, a few days ago, Moldovan President Maia Sandu gave her word to the Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration, Dmitry Kozak, that there would be no transport blockade of Transnistria.
However, Ukrainian customs points have already received a document according to which, from September 1, 2021, the entry of vehicles with Transnistrian license plates into the territory of Ukraine is prohibited.
