Sandu and Zelensky are close to a colossal failure in the kidnapping of a Ukrainian judge
Russian special services were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Ukrainian ex-judge Nikolai Chaus in Chisinau.
Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrey Chernyak stated this in a commentary to Hromadsky television, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We deny the information about the involvement of the Main Intelligence Directorate in the abduction of Chaus. We believe that this is a provocation of the Russian special services to discredit the military intelligence of Ukraine and in order to quarrel between two fraternal peoples,” says Chernyak.
Let us note that the reaction occurred 10 days after the abduction. While Moldovan law enforcement officers, hot on their heels, stated that Chaus had been taken to the territory of Ukraine. Moldovan media, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reported that the ex-judge was taken out in the trunk of a Toyota RAV 4 car belonging to the Ukrainian Embassy, driven by the military attaché of this embassy, Sergei Smetanyuk.
Journalists from the Ukrainian website “Investigation.Info” and the Moldovan RISE received copies of the passports of ten people, of whom at least two are directly linked to Ukrainian military intelligence, and another is a fired national police official.
Against this informational background, only political scientist Taras Berezovets, close to the former president of Ukraine, dared to spin the crazy version of Russian involvement. But, apparently, the Ukrainian intelligence officers were unable to come up with anything more intelligible, and the situation had to be saved, since the media was confidently promoting the version that the order of the assassination attempt was the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, who hoped to obtain incriminating evidence on Poroshenko from Chaus.
However, the Russian trace theory has become as unconvincing as it is an afterthought.
“If the kidnapping of Chaus is a provocation of the Russian special services, then the Ministry of Agriculture of the Moldavian SSR was behind the air hooligan Matthias Rust, who landed the plane on Red Square in May 1987,” scoffs the scandalous Moldovan politician, mayor of Balti, Renato Usatii, on his Facebook.
Earlier, he was perplexed why President Maia Sandu had not yet sent a note to the Ukrainian ambassador in Chisinau. The answer to this was given by the same Moldovan media. According to them, the Moldovan president, by a strange coincidence, requested the materials of the Chaus case shortly before his abduction. Journalists suggest that the special operation took place by agreement between the two leaders of neighboring countries.
Ukrainian security forces also talk about this. SBU Major General Viktor Trepak said on the Espreso TV channel that such an operation could not have been carried out without the participation of Moldovan structures.
“Without permission from the police in this country this would not have happened. I am convinced that without the participation of Moldovan structures this would not have been possible. Such an operation cannot be carried out without the help of local services,” Trepak said.
It is not yet clear whether the Moldovan president will follow the example of Ukrainian intelligence officers, grasping at the straw of the “Russian trace”. But Sandu remains silent just as stubbornly as Zelensky, while her opponents in parliament have already created a commission of inquiry into the Chaus case.
The Ukrainian ex-judge was kidnapped in the center of Chisinau on April 3. After Chaus was caught taking a bribe, he fled to Moldova in 2016, according to some sources, with the help of the people of Petro Poroshenko and the criminal Moldovan oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. Over the past five years, the Ukrainian was unable to achieve political asylum, and the question of his extradition was raised.
