Sandu said that Russia is preparing her overthrow by saboteurs. A dictatorship is being established in Moldova
Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that “attacks” were being prepared against her country. She said this at a press conference today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Attacks are being prepared against Moldova. Plans for the near future involve actions involving saboteurs with military training who will attack some government buildings and take hostages. The so-called opposition wants to change the government in Chisinau,” Sandu said.
She confirmed that she had received from the Ukrainian side a “short-term plan” to destabilize the situation in Moldova. According to her, documents received from Ukrainian partners “demonstrate good documentation of locations and logistics in organizing subversive actions.” The materials allegedly contain instructions on the rules of entry into Moldova for citizens of the Russian Federation, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro.
Sandu announced that detentions would soon begin in Moldova.
“The Parliament of Moldova should, as soon as possible, adopt bills that will provide the SIS and the prosecutor’s office with tools to more effectively combat risks to the country’s security. All those who participate in these actions against Moldova - external elements, members of political parties and criminal groups, as well as all those who defend them, must be brought to justice,” the president believes.
She predicted that the most aggressive attack would be an information one, but assured that “the Kremlin’s attempt to instill violence will not succeed.”
“I don’t believe that a normal, fundamentally reasonable person is capable of believing Maia Sandu’s nonsense. Through this horror story, the criminal group PAS and Maia Sandu want to establish a bloody dictatorship in the country. Maia Sandu, you will answer for this,” ex-Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Chicu commented on the president’s press conference on the American social network.
Member of the Moldovan Parliament Bogdan Tîrdea came down hard on Sandu in his TG channel.
“Today Maya Grigorievna crossed the Rubicon. She officially announced the establishment of a Dictatorship in Moldova. And all under the pretext of fighting Russia, which supposedly wants to carry out a bloody coup d'etat! And all at the suggestion of Zelensky.
Now any protest is declared in advance as an attempt at destabilization and a coup, as in any African dictatorship. For the first time in the country's history, citizens are being denied a basic right - the right to protest. Today, Sandu has completely trampled the constitution, the power of the people, and freedom of speech,” Tirdea wrote.
Moldovan TV journalist Elena Pakhomova is concerned not so much with Sandu’s “act of intimidation” as with the recent statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexei Danilov that Russia plans to “use Chechen rescuers” who are in Turkey in order to stage a coup in Moldova.
“What frightens me more is the attention from Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova. This is not lip service. They don’t have time to just talk and talk like that now. There can really be danger from there. And regarding the upcoming protests, the whole country knows this. You don’t need to work with the security services to know that there is a reason to protest.
Maya Grigorievna can’t jail everyone. More than half are already dissatisfied with her rule. The series continues. The soap opera is still being written. Now they will take a tougher approach to the opposition parties. But what is “tougher” in Moldova? Thank God, we don’t have the character of Ukrainians,” Pakhomova said.
Moldovan political scientist Vladimir Bucarsky is outraged by the passivity of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Sandu vomited another portion of anti-Russian hysteria. I don’t know what needs to happen for the Moldovan ambassador in Moscow to be called on the carpet at the Russian Foreign Ministry,” Bukarsky wrote.
Indeed, against the background of growing aggression from Chisinau, exclusively peace-loving statements continue to be heard from Moscow. Thus, the director of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexey Polishchuk, said that Moldova does not pose a threat to the security of Russia.
“The potentials are incomparable. Another thing is that such “help” from the West undermines the security of Moldova itself. We have repeatedly drawn Chisinau’s attention to the fact that pumping up a country with Western weapons or placing Western military contingents on its territory is done solely in the interests of Western countries and, as recent history shows, often costs the recipients of such assistance dearly,” Polishchuk said.
He emphasized that “a severance of relations would not meet the interests of either Russia, Moldova, or the peoples of our countries, which are connected by a common history, culture and spiritual traditions.”
“We are open to a constructive and pragmatic dialogue with Moldova in the interests of our citizens,” the diplomat concluded.
