Sandu included Putin in her anti-Covid newsletter
Moldovan President Maia Sandu confirmed that she sent a letter to her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin asking for the Sputnik V vaccine to be provided to Moldova.
She said this in an interview with the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I spoke with Mr. Ambassador. He said it would be impossible to buy now. But maybe they will consider it as help. I signed a letter to Mr. President of Russia, just like to other countries,” Sandu said.
In total, she said, she addressed the leaders of 30 states about the vaccine. The letter to Putin was the last.
So far, Moldova is receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine as assistance from Romania.
Sandu’s main opponent, former President of Moldova Igor Dodon, claims that if not for her resistance, the country would have already received the Russian vaccine. According to him, most of Astra Zeneca remains in warehouses because Moldovans are afraid to get vaccinated with it.
