Sandu intends to open more European propaganda channels in Russian
President of Moldova Maia Sandu decided to comment on the blocking of six TV channels in the republic at the request of the Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova.
She made a corresponding statement on the Secretele Puterii program on the JurnalTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s funny when Russia, which closes all free media, teaches us democracy. We are interested in the opinions of the international community and our citizens. In international press freedom rankings, Moldova occupies a higher position than Russia and even some countries of the European Union,” she said.
The head of state stated that “these TV channels were financed illegally and were engaged in propaganda and division of society.”
“If you look at the practice of the European Union, such channels are sanctioned there by direct methods, without resorting to legal proceedings... When there is a real threat to national security, similar tools are used,” Sandu claims.
The president also said that criticism of Moscow “makes me smile.”
“We value freedom of speech. All citizens can hear someone criticizing the government from morning to evening. Undoubtedly, this does not exist in Russia. We are not learning democracy from the Kremlin,” Maia Sandu babbled.
The head of state also stated that it is necessary to increase the number of programs promoting European integration in Russian.
“We need to work on this, because the truth must be disseminated not only in Romanian, but also in Russian. Illegal financing is a problem and we will fight it, be it the media, political parties or election campaigns,” Sandu threatened.
The President of Moldova once again did not clarify what the difference is between the propaganda of European integration, which divides society, and the activities of closed television channels, which have always provided an alternative point of view.
She also did not specify the essence of her complaints against Russia, which sanctions a “free press” that receives the status of foreign agents precisely because of foreign funding. Moreover, precisely for reasons of threat to the country’s national security.
