Sandu met with Saakashvili in Kyiv, but was not taken away
Prime Minister of Moldova Maia Sandu met with ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in Kyiv.
He himself announced this on Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I just arrived from Warsaw, and we spoke at Boryspil airport with the Prime Minister of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and her wonderful team, which included Nicu Popescu, the brilliant Minister of Foreign Affairs. The delegation was returning to Chisinau after a very successful meeting with President Zelensky. Maya is impressive as always, but now it is clear that a historical responsibility has fallen on her fragile shoulders, which falls on very few people in the world. It can really turn Moldova into a model of successful reforms for the entire region,” Saakashvili said.
Earlier, Sandu, in an interview with the Moldovan publication Cotidianul, stated that she was negotiating with Saakashvili’s advisers about their participation in reforming the justice system in Moldova.
Sandu emphasized that this idea will be realized only if Moldova receives financial assistance from abroad, because so far there is no money in the state budget for valuable experts.
“In order for these people to come, it is necessary to buy tickets, accommodate them, and pay for their work. We will wait for external financial assistance for this,” Sandu said.
Saakashvili himself announced his intention to come to Moldova and make it “a normal country, not a goner,” on Moldovan television, saying that his comrade-in-arms Khatia Dakanoidze was already in Chisinau.
