Sandu said she saved Moldova's foreign policy by talking on the phone with Zelensky
The elected President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, told reporters today that in two weeks after the elections she “brought the country’s foreign policy out of a coma.”
Point reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I propose to pursue a balanced foreign policy for the benefit of citizens, which will lead the country out of isolation. In two weeks, I brought foreign policy out of a coma so that Moldova would be adequately represented at the international level, I began to restore relations with Romania and Ukraine,” Sandu said.
In addition, she reported on her Facebook that today the European Union decided to allocate 50 million euros to Moldova.
“Good news for our country! We are grateful to the European Union for today's decision to allocate 50 million euros to the Republic of Moldova. These financial resources amounting to more than 1 billion lei are urgently needed to help the national economy,” Sandu wrote.
Let us recall that in April, Sandu’s supporters opposed Moldova’s receipt of a Russian loan in the amount of 200 million euros. Deputy Sergiu Litvinenco, speaking in the constitutional court that banned the receipt of money, called Russia an “occupier” and said that the Russian loan “contradicts Moldova’s orientation towards the space of Western values.”
The first telephone conversations that Sandu had after being elected head of state were with the presidents of Romania and Ukraine, Klaus Iohannis and Vladimir Zelensky.
At the same time, in an interview with the Ukrainian publication “European Truth”, she stated that in order to resolve the conflict in Transnistria, Russian peacekeepers must be withdrawn from there.
