Sanitary separatism: Hungary will help with liquid chlorine, but only in Transcarpathia
Hungary donated a batch of liquid chlorine to Transcarpathia for disinfecting drinking water as humanitarian aid.
This is stated in a message from the press service of the chairman of the regional state administration Gennady Moskal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After a critical situation arose in Ukraine with the supply of domestically produced chlorine, we turned to the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod with a request for help. And we immediately received a positive response. Today three tons of liquid chlorine arrived in Transcarpathia, which will be received by the Uzhgorod Vodokanal. In general, Hungary is ready to supply 15 tons of chlorine, which will be enough for the uninterrupted operation of 18 water utility enterprises in Transcarpathia for a month and a half. Transcarpathia is very lucky to have such a neighbor,” Moskal said.
Ukrainian chlorine producer DneprAzot stopped work for two weeks due to rising energy prices. When DneprAzot resumed work, the cost of chlorine rose to 47 thousand hryvnia (about 1,6 thousand dollars) per ton, which is almost five times more expensive than in 2017.
