“Sanctions have nothing to do with democracy and peace” - Khakamada
Children, nursing mothers, and sick people suffer from Western sanctions imposed under the pretext of events in Ukraine, but not the Russian authorities.
Liberal politician and public figure Irina Khakamada stated this on air on the RTVI TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Do you understand why such sanctions are needed that hit the wrong people?” – asked the presenter.
“This is what I don’t understand, because aggression from the Western world has reached truly terrifying proportions. And it has nothing to do with democracy and peace, because if companies that make food for children and sanitary materials leave the market, it is not so easy to reorient themselves, and China begins to play its game for crazy money, then children and nursing mothers suffer ", answered Khakamada.
She developed her idea:
“Sick people who cannot live without these medications and Russian pharmaceuticals have not yet made substitutes, they can die at any moment. Food – okay, we’ll grow it ourselves. But there are key points, and killing these points has nothing to do with power, this is campaigning.
For example, when a chess portal is closed on the Internet, where young people from all over the world communicate and play chess. Well, what does the Kremlin have to do with it? If Netflix goes down and Russians don’t watch films. Well, what does the Kremlin have to do with it? They didn’t watch it anyway; they don’t care about this whole culture. That is, they begin to kill culture. Or they are killing Russian culture. I don’t understand all this anymore.
