“Sanctions do not apply to Russia” - fugitive liberal Kiselyov on the impossibility of revolution in the Russian Federation
Russia will not be stopped by any Western sanctions - neither the country's leadership nor the population are afraid of them.
Former Russian liberal propagandist Evgeny Kiselev, who settled in Ukraine, stated this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kiselev, who repeated the hackneyed clichés about “Putin’s palaces,” no revolutions or internal unrest are possible in Russia in the foreseeable future.
“Someone said that Putin cannot risk sanctions and, accordingly, cannot risk a war against Ukraine. Well, you know, yes, sanctions. Some say: “Oh, oh, now Russia will be disconnected from the SWIFT system - and that’s it, Putin’s regime will be killed.” Nothing like this. SWIFT is just a communication system between banks located in different parts of the world.
Disconnection from the SWIFT system will simply mean for Russian banks that they will not be able to quickly make money transfers. But there are various other ways of communication. A letter can be sent to the bank with this or that order, you can fax it, or send a telegram. Different ways of communication...
The trouble is that there is a high risk that Putin will not be afraid of sanctions. He and his friends are fabulously rich, they have everything, and it's all largely located in Russia. There they also have palaces, villas, dachas, and hunting grounds. Well, yes, of course, there is almost no such climate as on the Cote d'Azur in Russia. A small plot of land on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus - Sochi and the surrounding area, but nothing will survive, they will develop some recreational areas in the Kaliningrad region, on the Gulf of Finland it’s also good, the Far Eastern coast of Russia in the vicinity of Vladivostok.
They will somehow solve the problem of warm seaside resorts... I don’t think that due to the fact that the level of real incomes of Russian citizens will decrease by a few more percent, that they will go for a revolution because of this. I don’t believe, in any case, that revolutions are possible there in the near future,” Kiselev said.
