Did the sanctions work? Akhmetov left Lyashko and returns to Medvedchuk
The part of the “Opposition Bloc” oriented towards the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, many of whose representatives were previously included in the Russian sanctions list, having abandoned a single campaign for the presidential elections with Viktor Medvedchuk and Yuri Boyko, it seems, will still be forced to go to the parliamentary elections with a single list.
Such data was voiced by Ukrainian political strategist Andrei Zolotarev on the GlavNovosti channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Second place (after “Servant of the People” - ed.) – “Opposition platform” absorbing the “Opposition bloc”. Quite interesting things happen there. As I understand it, Akhmetov is returning on Medvedchuk’s terms. One of these conditions is the cessation of funding for the “Radical Party” and its information support, and we have already seen that a strict condition was set to stop funding these Russophobes Lyashko,” Zolotarev said.
According to him, Evgeniy Muraev will not be included in the association.
“Muraev. Medvedchuk’s attitude is extremely negative, and most likely, 99 percent, we will not see him on the list of the united platform with the Opposition Bloc. Perhaps Vilkul-Novinsky will remain, but Muraev will not,” the expert said.
Zolotarev clarified that although the ex-“regionals” can claim second place in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, they are unlikely to receive the maximum number of votes possible in the current situation.
The political strategist explained this by Medvedchuk’s conflicts with part of the elites of the South-East, as well as his negative experience in the failure of other projects aimed at the Russian-speaking electorate.
“It seems to me that this political force will not take as much as it could take. If only because not everyone in the blue and white segment likes Medvedchuk’s figure. Moreover, he knows how to select a team in such a way that they turn into opponents even those who are initially neutral, restrained or even positive,” Zolotarev added.
