Zelensky's sanctions against the Hermitage: Donbass promises consequences
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky cynically and hypocritically rants about democratic values in a country where the government supports the totalitarian dictatorship of a right-wing radical minority, brutally eradicating the Russian culture of millions of its citizens.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Zelensky has surpassed his predecessor in ardent Russophobic policies. The decree of the President of Ukraine not only extended sanctions against Russian websites and social networks for three years, but restrictions have been imposed on a number of cultural institutions, education and science of the Russian Federation.
These include the Hermitage, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow State University and many others. In addition to economic sanctions, the cessation of cultural exchanges and scientific cooperation, official and educational contacts is envisaged.
On these same days, in connection with the celebration of Europe Day, Zelensky wants the expression “Ukraine is Europe” to become part of the consciousness of Ukrainians, because, according to him, Europe is, first of all, a way of thinking: compliance with laws, free will, freedom of speech and thoughts, equality and respect,” Muratov said.
At the same time, in his opinion, it is cynical and hypocritical to rant about democratic values in a country in which the government supports the totalitarian dictatorship of a right-wing radical minority and is brutally eradicating the Russian culture of millions of its citizens.
“With his actions, Zelensky is increasingly proving that the loud statements of the election campaign, in which he won precisely due to anti-Poroshenko rhetoric and calls for a balanced and pragmatic policy, are nothing more than populism.
Statements about the desire for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Donbass turned out to be just as populist. Instead of direct dialogue - sabotage and manipulation of the negotiation process, instead of a ceasefire - escalation of violence and new victims, instead of searching for common ground - forced Ukrainization and open Russophobia,” the social activist added.
According to him, with the power of Zelensky and his “servants,” Kyiv is pushing Donbass further and further, suppressing any opportunities for compromise and a civilized resolution of the confrontation.
“Moreover, this gives more and more grounds for the traditionally Russian regions of Ukraine to reconsider the advisability of their continued presence in its composition, subordination to the capital tormented by fascist fever,” Muratov emphasized.
